The Scorpion ARFF

The Scorpion Airport Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicle (ARFF). The Scorpion is handcrafted to suit the Scania P460 B6x6HZ chassis cab that was specifically manufactured to order. The Scania P460 is fitted with a double cab that meets the stringent Swedish VVFS 2003:29 crew safety test as well as the ECE R29 UN test making it one of the safest crew cabs in the world.

The safety features are further enhanced by the driver and officer air bags as well as the side curtain air bags for the cab and crew cab doors. The Scorpion ARFF is fully ICAO compliant and meets all the required Civil Aviation Authority regulations and requirements. The ARFF is fitted with a 9 000-litre water tank and a 1 200-litre foam tank, both being manufactured from high-grade polypropylene.

The Scorpion ARFF’s efficacy is further enhanced by the inclusion of an Finnish engineered Esteri mid-ship mounted pump that is rated at 6 000l/min @ 10 bar and delivers the water and foam solution through a deck mounted Elkhart Scorpion EXM monitor fitted with an Elkhart SM2000E automatic nozzle as well as an Elkhart Sidewinder EXM bumper turret, both controlled via joysticks in the cab. The inclusion of Hydro-Chem capability on the Scorpion ARFF, powered by a 250kg Purple K system, allows the Scorpion ARFF to mitigate the most daunting of aviation fires.
